He is rated highly among the best well-spoken politicians in the US and the eight years although with a few challenges have really been worth it for Obama and his family.
After eight years in the Oval office, Obama returned to his hometown of Chicago to say his farewell speech that has started in 2009 with the slogan “Yes we can”.
However, during this last speech, it was the first US black president that shed tears as he was saying his bye to millions who were tuning in to this memorable moment.
The Kenyan born said a lot of things in the more than one hour he spoke and among the things he said include the Iran nuclear deal, reforming the healthcare system and others.
Before he finished his speech, tears started rolling down the president’s cheeks and this was because he was speaking about his family especially his wife and first lady Michelle, his daughter Malia and Sasha who was missing.
“You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humour,” he said. “A new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.”
The first family was joined by Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill who the president described as “family”.
