From the time Kampala City Council Authority announced that Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz will be one of the headlining artistes at the upcoming Kampala City Festival social media has been on fire with the public reaction towards this with the majority saying it’s not worth it whereas some are in support and anticipating to watch the so called Ugandan ‘Muko’ (Luganda for brother-in-law)
However main debate is why KCCA would import a Tanzanian artiste as the event’s main headliner and even pay him expensively yet we have our own artistes here. Well, according to KCCA’s announcement, it did not make it clear that Diamond is the ‘main headliner’ but he will instead be among the other Ugandan artistes to entertain revellers.
On the same note, Pallaso who once performed at the City Carnival said it’s ok for Diamond to come and perform and he also called upon Ugandans not feel bad about this because even Ugandan artistes have been paid big money to grace major events in Tanzania, Kenya and other African countries.
“You can’t say that Ugandan artistes will cross to and perform in other countries when you are not ready to welcome others and it is actually ok for others to welcome artists from other countries so long as they are willing to welcome us as well.” Pallaso said recently on NTV’s The Beat show
The ‘Number One’ hit singer will join Ugandan artistes like Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Radio and Weasel, Sheebah, Geosteady, Ziza Bafana, Gravity Omutujju, Lydia Jazmine and Cindy who are also booked for the Carnival which is slated for Friday the 6th to 8th of October.
