Despite not winning the Miss World title, Quiin Abenakyo is still a heroine to Ugandans after coming in 4th overall position and being crowned Miss World Africa in the just concluded Miss World beauty pageant.
She is the first Ugandan beauty queen to reach this far in the competition and because of this; she has been tipped to become an ambassador.
According to the chairperson of the Uganda Tourism Board, Mr Daudi Migereko, the 22 year old now deserves much more than just being Miss Uganda as she was crowned Miss Africa.
He said that the country could experience a boost in tourism with the beauty queen taking on the role of a kind of tourism ambassador for the country.
“This is an opportunity to use Abenakyo as the face of Uganda to boost local tourism. Abenakyo has put up an excellent performance and as a country we are bound to benefit immensely as a result of the publicity Uganda has had as a result of that excelslent performance,” Mr Migereko said.
He added that Abenakyo has shed a positive light on Uganda and put the image of the country on a different path.
Many people have since come on board to show their appreciation for Abenakyo despite the struggles they had to endure while going for the pageant because of limited or no support from government agencies.
