‘Rukundo Egumeho’ series of events organised by Bakiga Nation started as a simple event to unite Bakiga living in Kampala but little did organisers know that it was going to turn into something overwhelmingly big.
The 5th edition which took place in June at Hilltop Gardens Naguru was a fun filled one only that there a big problem of little space. As a matter of fact, revellers didn’t enjoy like they really wanted because of space.
However, the organisers heard and the complaints and moved the event to a much bigger venue. Last Sunday the 9th of December, the 6th edition of the ‘Rukundo Egumeho’ sponsored by Nile Special successfully went down at Uganda Manufactures Association (UMA) show grounds boasting of mammoth crowds
‘Rukundo Egumegho’ which is Rukiga for ‘let the love keep on’ is an event where revelers simply come to do nothing but unwind from the week’s stress, have fun, interact with friends, drink, eat and above all enjoy the day’s performances. This was the case once again and for those who attended, you can testify to that
The day started off well as revellers came in big numbers as early as midday ready experience what the 6th edition had to over. There were performances from Shine Omukiga, Amani Amanigga, Tamba and Qwela Band
Apart from the performances, revellers were also had other activities that took their attention for example games like kwepena, rope skipping, tag of war among others.
Although the events main reason is for Bakiga to meet in celebration of their culture, togetherness, solidarity, it later turned into an event for even non Bakiga who come through to celebrate with them
