Hima Cement last week welcomed and hosted its Muslim customers, distributors and dealers to an Iftar meal to celebrate Ramadan. The dinner, which was held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, was organised to celebrate the holy month and break the day-long fast with the Muslim community. This is the sixth year that the cement manufacturer has hosted Iftar.
Speaking at the dinner, Sophie Mirembe, Hima Cement Rwanda’s General Manager who played host of the evening, thanked the guests for their longstanding support and loyalty to Hima Cement; and stressed the importance of building relationships and working as a community towards a shared goal. “As Hima Cement, we remain committed towards our values of care, respect for people and towards the universal values of unity and mutual respect. We have also instituted this dinner as a tradition, and pledge to continue celebrating the holy month of Ramadan with you our customers and partners in the years to come,” she remarked.
Sheikh Katerega, who is the Secretary of Religious Affairs at Kibuli Mosque, thanked Hima Cement for the annual gesture. In his remarks, he also congratulated Muslims upon reaching the middle mark of the holy month and encouraged them to pray and fast continuously during this month of reflection.
