It is no longer news that comedy in Uganda has grown and even no longer a secret that the duo of Mad Rat and Chicko who started as ‘Village comedians’ performing in suburbs and Karaoke shows have become big name comedians in the city.
The duo who have since grown to be the biggest comedy duo in the country, held their second editionof the annual Nseko Buseko comedy show over the weekend Friday 27th July at Imperial Royal Hotel. Their relentless hard work and consistence having has now paid off after holding their first ever comedy show dubbed Nseko Buseko (Season one) last year at Theatre La’bonita which was also well attended and a good kicks-tart for their future projects and ambitions.
After shifting from the smaller Theatre La’bonita which usually attracts the ‘downtown crowd’, to a four-star hotel – Royal Imperial Hotel known for hosting mostly A-listers of the city one can comfortably say they have now arrived in the city.
On Friday they once again showcased their skills through skits and stand-up comedy which their fans who keep growing bigger and bigger every year seemed to enjoy.
They had a boxing match, dance routines, story-telling as well as mimicking of other celebrities to spice things up. What keeps them original and fresh is the fact that their jokes usually revolve around true life stories and experiences from their humble backgrounds.
In the crowd was State Minister for Water Resources Hon. Minister Ronald Kibule, Artiste Bebe Cool and Comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi who were some of the subjects of their jokes among many other public figures and socialites.
