Celebrated award winning East African dynamic duo Radio and Weasel are gearing up for what is expected to be an exciting mini musical tour of Northern Uganda. The duo is set to take their Neera themed tour in the districts of Kitgum, Gulu and Lira where they are expected to pull a massive crowd and entertain them with their latest hits.
Fresh from adding more accolades into their impressive collection of music awards with the latest being the Honesty Oscar award for ‘Best activism’, they are now heading North to interact with a music crazy and sometimes erratic audience which embraces almost all kinds of music and dances to local tunes without minding the time factor and regardless of the position one holds in society.
A story is told of Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels who used to be so addicted to Jose Chameleone’s music that, they would lay down their weapons and join the locals together with the UPDF in dancing to ‘Kipepewo’ and ‘Dorotia’ whenever the self confessed music doctor was in the vicinity. Sometimes this would go on and and on even in clubs where they would party together till the wee hours of the morning.
The duo that was mentored by the ‘Wale Wale’ singer at Leone Island therefore, has to be prepared for a similar scenario and to share in the fun where ’Neera’ in this part of the world loosely translates to ‘ Uncle’ usually in reference to a senior person just like ‘Mzee’ is used in Kiswahili. They are most likely going to be singing ‘Neera’, ‘Neera’, ‘Neera’ to refer to them as Big Uncles while the duo does it again and again and again.
The tour kicks off officially tonight with the first show at the Boma grounds in Kitgum with entry set at 6,000/= followed by Gulu at Da Link Gardens also 6,000/= with a wrap at Pacific Hotel in Lira on Sunday March 15th at 5,000/= VIP 10,000/=
