Ever since Uganda received the bad news that vocalist Radio was badly beaten in a brawl that happened at the Entebbe town based De Bar bar, singer Lilian Mbabazi who is the late Radio’s baby mama of two remained silent and apart from Radio’s family and very close friends, she was the only person allowed to be near radio in Intensive Care Unit of Case Clinic.
Unfortenately, Radio did not make it. He passed on on the morning of 1st February, after succumbing to the nasty head injuries he sustained in the brawl . However, much us we expected Lilian to speak out, her words were still few but just like how we all know how loosing loved ones feels, we cannot blame Lilian for her silence.
Radio was laid to rest at his home in Nakawuku, Entebbe on Saturday the 3rd of February amidst thousands of people in their different dignitaries but up to now, some fans have not yet believed that the ‘Neera’ singer died.
One week after the burial, Lilian has finally come out with a passionate message to Radio who was the father of her two children.
“I have been trying so hard to get the strength and words to write something about you Papa Asante. I have been in a nightmare and I can’t seem to wake up from it. Knowing that I can’t see or talk to you is very hard for me to understand. You were kind, a SPECIAL human being and the greatest talent of our generation. I am blessed I got to share many moments with you, I am grateful for our amazing children. You have left a huge gap that NO ONE will ever fill. I love you Papa Asante forever and May God give me the strength and courage to raise our children to continue your legacy.” Read Part of Lilian’s message to Radio
Lilian also took a special time to say thank you to each and every one who reached out to her, supported and comforted her in that heart breaking moment.
“To Everyone that has reached out and supported me through this time, I want to say thank you so much and I am humbled… May God bless all of you… Papa Asante we miss you and I see you every time I look into our babies’ eyes… Words are not enough to express how I feel in this moment. Please rest in perfect peace. I will be still and know that He is God” She added
Prior to all this, Lilian had opened up on her relationship with Radio while speaking on an interview with NBS TV’s ‘The Chat Room’ show hosted by Karitas Karisimbi.
“Music always brought people together. He caught me off guard, I didn’t expect us to go far, I thought we were just having fun, so only y sisters and friends knew about him and I told my mum when I had my first kid.” Lilian narrated.
