Whoever thought Ugandan Hip Hop is dead clearly doesn’t know who Navio is. With his amazing prowess, Navio is destined for greatness and there is nothing that can stop him.
His name is up there in the skies and a definite force to reckon with when it comes to Ugandan hip hop.
Currently making music with Wyclef Jean, the Klear Kut star is only just getting started, sooner or later you may hear he is making collaborations with the likes of Wale or Tyga (name it) just don’t be surprised.
Anyway, here’s what you need to know about “Something About You”: It’s Uganda’s biggest hip hop artist, appearing on one of the most anticipated videos of the year, promoting the hugest rap album in recent memory Pride (which is already available online and in stores). It really doesn’t matter what he’s doing in the video — it’s more like a statement of his creativity.
So I commend Aethan, who came through, changed things up and amplified it and took the song to great heights. The “Something About You” video is super-stylish; with amazing graffiti in the background.
The story in the video pretty much follows the ‘Something About You’ lyrics very literally: Navio stunned by beauty, leaves behind his two friends and follows a girl into a building (something about you, I can’t leave without you). Keeping a razor sharp vision, he walks past other girls who were clearly drawn to him, only to find the one he had eyes for, waiting amidst white curtains. It’s up to the viewer’s imagination to conclude on what happened next.
If all Ugandan musicians worked this hard, the music industry would be a better place, until it’s destroyed by the apocalypse, that is.
