The afternoon visit that took place last Friday started with lunch as the team shared with other visitors who had also travelled from different parts of the country. The Founder and Principle Rosemary Nambooze together with caretakers and some of the children entertained the guests before giving a brief background about the centre as well as sharing some of the challenges faced as taking care of the children is expensive.
Angel’s Center for Children with special needs is a non government organisation that was established to improve the quality of lives of children with special needs through promoting and protecting their rights and strengthening the capacity of families to cope with raising children with development challenges among others.
It all started with the story of Abryl the son to Rosemary Nambooze who was born with down syndrome and other complications that needed special medical attention as well as close grooming which inspired Nambooze to start the facility since such centres were not available then.
Salvado who promised to support the center in different ways took an assortment of food items, drinks and other household items as well as cash of 1.5million.
“This is one of the first of series of visits we’ll be making here, I am proud of what you people are doing here. Please children what we have brought is not enough, but it can take us somewhere”. Salvado said.
