After a one-year break, comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi’s much awaited Man From Ombokolo returns stronger and bigger for season 2 after Singleton came on board as the title sponsors for a show the comedian has promised will be yet again action-packed and thrilling.
At a press briefing that took place yesterday at Lawns Restaurant in Kololo, Salvado while announcing/launching the show first gave a brief and touching background on how this year’s show was almost cancelled due to lack of commitment from former sponsors only for Singleton to ‘miraculously show up’ to help push through the event.
He explained that it all started with a simple ‘casual call’ from Annette Nakiyaga who is Head of Whisky Portfolio at Uganda Breweries asking Salvado to have a taste of their new and exciting brand on the Ugandan market. After a few hesitations here and there, he finally obliged and had the meeting and also had a few sips on the malt whiskey. Like they always say, the rest is history.
While confirming the sponsorship deal, Annette reiterated that, they have given their full support for the show which is scheduled for October 27, 2017 at Imperial Royale Hotel. This is because they believe in what Salvado has done and can still do going by history.
“The Singleton experience is one of crafting immediately pleasurable whisky experiences and an evening with the country’s leading comedian, Salvado is a guarantee of laughter and pleasure. On behalf of UBL, I am pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring this year’s edition of Man from Ombokolo. We are looking forward to a Friday night of laughter while sipping on the smooth, fruity Speyside richness of The Singleton,” Nakiyaga said.
“The most pleasurable whisky moments go beyond the liquid. The Singleton forms creative collectives with the most talented crafts people to forge unforgettable experiences and Salvado is one of the most talented people of our time,” She added
“Salvado has over the years exhibited class and is also made of taste as seen in the numerous travels he has made in the recent times for international shows. This goes to show that he is one person we can trust to carry our brand forward” Annette concluded.
When asked about the alleged fight he has had with some critics on social media over copying jokes. He confirmed indeed there was a fight and although he laughed it off saying he did take it seriously but instead used it as a publicity stunt for his advantage by taking on a one Ray Supasta to generate more reads.
Salvado adds that, the show which goes for a flat fee of UGx. 100,000 will kick off at 6:00pm with a DJ session followed by Janzi Band and then he will take off at 9:00pm with a 75-minute session. There will also be some surprise acts to spice up things as well as an international media house to to coverage and production.
