Ugandan singer Maureen Nantume is having a good year so far with March seemingly her best month ever following a series of successful concerts.
She crowned it all yesterday by helping an elderly woman through her charity organization Nkuze Foundation in which she donated food and other household items worth millions of shillings..
Among the items that were donated to the elderly woman were bathing and washing soap, sacks of rice and Posho, Jerry cans of cooking oil and among others.
Through her Facebook page, the singer posted about.
“The need to help should be our first reaction and offering help should be the genuine manifestation of being a good human as our parents taught us to be.” help those less fortunate than you, for it is real human existence. I was so touched by this lady’s story on Tv, she is a grandmother to 24children looking after them alone and when I reached her homestead indeed she needed help. Through the Nkuze Foundation together with Maureen Nantume Family, we decided to give her the little we managed” her post read.
Last month, a sad story aired on a national TV where an elderly woman hailing from Mpigi was wailing for help after her sons left her with 24 grandchildren. She told the news reporters that her five sons died a few years back. The mother of her grandchildren had nothing to do apart from dumping the orphans at her home.
In the same Video that aired on TV, the elderly woman narrated how she has been feeding the many children on sweet potatoes and beans. She said that on some occasions, the children go through a day without food and wait for the night only to have a cup of water and sweet potatoes.
