Golden Band singer Mesach Semakula is now a full ‘Sir’ after the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi the second gave him this title a few days ago during his 64th birthday celebrations.
The Kabaka honored Mesach with a certificate for his outstanding work he has done for the kingdom of Buganda.
“You have been honored for your enormous contribution towards the Kingdom of Buganda for a very long time,” read part of the certificate which was signed by the king himself.
“Who am I to be honored by the Kabaka for my job. I’m so happy and privileged. Long live the Kabaka of Buganda,” said Mesach Semakula.
The self-proclaimed ‘Golden Papa’ has been pivotal in fronting Buganda on every occasion he attends and is one of the musicians who have over time showed their love for the great Buganda Kingdom. He has attended the kingdom’s events singing for free, most notably performing at the annual ‘Enkuka’ event.
Among the songs that contributed to this honoring include ‘Njagala Nyimbire Omutanda’, ‘Njagala Kukutegeza’, among others.
Mesach has now joined singer Mathias Walukagga who was also given the Sir honour by the king of Buganda some years ago
