Rema Namakula is one female artiste who has always remained composed. She is never indecent in her dressing and is among the few who perhaps is fasting during this holy month of Ramathan, going by her (sharia) dress code lately.
But despite the Islamic religion forbidding Muslims especially artistes to perform in places like bars among others, the musician came out and argued out her point regarding this.
She said that having chosen a musical career, it’s how she makes end meet and knows exactly how to praise her God. “Sheiks are always condemning us from performing during Ramathan but are we going to feed from their homes or take our children to them so that they can look after them? Islam is the best religion but Allah also knows that and is the one who blessed us with these talents,” she said in an interview with Spark TV this week.
The mother of one further ahead and said that as long as she has bills to pay, she won’t stop performing.
This is one of the biggest topics that comes up every Ramathan month concerning performing artistes. Islamic leaders preach against them singing in the Holy month because they believe a song is one of the ways through which the devil communicates.
