SMS ONE Uganda’s leading multi-media service provider this evening rewarded the truimphant Uganda National Rugby 7s after they emerged Africa Rugby 7s Champions recently in Nairobi.
The Cranes team which scored six tries to beat Namibia 38-19 at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani returned as national heroes after lifting the Africa Rugby Cup Sevens title and were deservedly rewarded for their efforts with a cash token of UGx.2million Shillings which was handed over to captain Eric Kasiita and his colleagues.
Mrs Gloria Batuta Shenyonga, the Public Relations officer SMS ONE who represented Finance and Operations Director Mrs Elizabeth Mushabe during the handover ceremony during the Uganda Cup final between Hima Cement Heathens and Buzz Black Pirates, reiterated the company’s commitment in supporting and promoting talent and entertainment in Uganda and thanked the African champions for making Uganda proud.
“We at SMS ONE pledge to support the entertainment industry in Uganda and rugby definitely being entertainment, we are proud to associate with it and through our multi-media platforms will support and promote rugby in Uganda” Batuta said.
Batuta who represented SMS ONE and Chano8 with Sales and Marketing officer Zakia Maseruka, were accompanied by private security officer Dixon ‘Bond’ Okello who coordinated the handover of the package, which was handed at half time of the Uganda Cup final. The hotly contested year-ender was later won by Heathens after beating Pirates 20-17 at Legends ground.
Captain Kasiita was grateful to SMS ONE for the gesture and promised even more success stories for the country. While Dixon Okello who is passionate about the national rugby team and has been fighting for their welfare said this was a good example shown by SMS ONE and encouraged other corporate companies to follow suit especially after the players were given only 20,000/- allowance each after the win.
