Kampala socialite and businessman Jack Pemba is proving day by day that he’s perhaps the kindest hearted socialite in Uganda lately.
Just after paying the Uganda Entertainment Awards 150million a sponsoring kit for the upcoming event, Jack Pemba last Saturday gave the organizers of the ‘Save lake Victoria car wash’ a total of 1 miilion shillings and this came after his two cars, a Range Rover and Mercedes ML were washed.
The event that had Miss Tourism Queens washing cars at 10k at Fusion Auto Spa Munyonyo, started at 8am till 6pm and it was part of Miss Tourism Uganda Pearl of Africa Corporate Social responsibility activities with the Egypt-Uganda Aquatic Weed control project in controlling the water weed that has since the 90’s invaded Uganda’s water bodies like Lake Victoria, Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert.
However, with the invasion of another species of aquatic weed Salvinia Molesta (Nankabirwa as referred to by locals) on Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert that was discovered in 2013, the beauty queens considered it necessary to join hands with the Egypt- Uganda Aquatic weed control project to increase awareness amongst the masses on what measures could be adopted to avert this weed from invading Uganda’s largest water body.
The initiative was therefore aimed at raising funds amongst well-wishers to facilitate the cleanup exercise on Lake Kyoga which will be taking place on the World Environment Day celebrated annually on the 5th June and 9th June on Lake Victoria.
