“Come next year, this event will not be Genesis Fashion Night. It will be called The Genesis Fashion Week” an ecstatic Hellen Lukoma declared to her fans. If you attended her Genesis Red Fashion Show at Cayenne Restaurant and Lounge last night, you would clearly see why. From the most unique and eye-catching designs to a full house, she had the night every stylist would dream of.
The show was slated to start at 6pm, which it did, though in Ugandan time (read 8pm). That though was not a hindrance. The moment uptown emcee Brian Kella McKenzie spoke the first words into the microphone, perfection was ushered in. Not a minute was wasted, as that instant, the first designer of the night Thirty took centre stage, with some pieces that wowed the crowd.
Lukoma had patched together quite a daring cast. It featured seven designers, and each of them made the best of their time on the runway. The breathers were on point too, with songbird Lillian Mbabazi and Dancehall star RabaDaba putting on quite a show.
Then the moment of glory came. With a red theme, Lukoma’s models graced the runway. Many an attendee acknowledged that every single piece was good to the eye. The models were well selected and boy did they do the pieces justice!
The girl of the night walked onto the stage, ushered by co-host Deedan of RadioCity. She was donning a lovely purple dress, and she received quite the ovation from the audience. She took a bow, and thanked everybody for coming and showing support.
The event came to a jovial end, and the party went on till late.
