Chameleone is one of the most loved East African artistes and this was easy for him because of the use of very good Kiswahili language in most of his songs. The use of this language which is widely spoken in Kenya and Tanzania has finally paid off.
Going by the information we landed on, the Tanzanian president His Excellency John Pombe Magufuli is set to officially award the ‘Mateeka’ singer for the promotion of Kiswahili language in East Africa through his music for a period more than 15 years
Chameleone will receive the award that will be handed over to him by Mr Magufuli himself on Saturday the 1st of September as Tanzania celebrates the 2018 edition of Urithi Festival at Dodoma Jamhuri Stadium
Jose Chameleone is expected to Arrive in Dar Es Salaam on the 31st of August then travel to Dodoma for the celebrations on the 1st of September and we were informed that he will not only receive the award but also perform for his Tanzanian fans
Chameleone has sang many songs in Swahili which include ‘Mama Mia’, ‘Shida Za Dunia’, ‘Jamila’, ‘Kipepewo’, ‘Vumlia’, ‘Mama Roda’, ‘Naumia’, ‘Sivyo Ndivyo’, ‘Mabo Bado’ among many others.
Chameleone has through the years received international awards that have seen him represent for Uganda to the fullest and he is still receiving more because he has continued to show that good music is still the thing he offers to his fans.
