Events promoter Andrew Mukasa commonly known as Bajjo was on remanded to Luzira prison for seven more days on charges of treason. He will be in Luzira until the 25th of this month when he will return to court.
Bajjo was remanded by Buganda Road Court Grade I magistrate, Stella Marris Amabilisi on Tuesday afternoon.
During the case hearing, Bajjo had pleaded guilty before his lawyer, Erias Lukwago rushed to tell the magistrate that perhaps his client (Bajjo) had not understood the question he was answering.
From that, the magistrate put the court in recess for ten minutes to find a suitable interpreter but failed and this is when she adjourned the court until the 25th of this month.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga had on Monday told journalists that Bajjo’s treason charges stem from a video clip in which he was allegedly inciting people to cause an uprising against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his government. The video was uploaded on social media.
Bajjo’s arrest came moments after a press conference in which he announced a marathon organized to support Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the Kyadondo East member of parliament to raise money he has lost over a number of failed concerts and children who lost parents during the infamous Arua riots last year.
