A few weeks ago Chano8 caught up with the highly talented Anne Kansiime and she talked about her journey. Today being a throwback Thursday, we couldn’t help but share her tremendous story,
‘It has not been an easy ride. When I started as an actress with Fun Factory, we would have shows at National Theatre and get some little money that was not even enough to cater for transport back to University or home. It has been a journey of seven years with ups and downs which involved gigs, sidekicks and business where we sold clothes and other stuff just to get the extra buck.’
She also talked about the growth of comedy in Uganda,
The females are picking interest. There are about 75 (stand-up) comedians now. Everyone is trying their best to be funny because of the trend setters who pioneered stand up comedy it has not been a smooth ride however the environment has already been created due to the hype that surrounds the stars. The punch liners (upcoming comedians) are now enjoying the conducive environment as they have a stage ready set to show case their talents at places like Laftas and National theatre.
