Talking about hip hop music in Uganda, there is this talented rapper called Big Trill who officially got on the music in 2011 after joining a hip-hop music crew dubbed ‘Baboon Forest’ that had artistes like GNL Zamba and Mun G. He however left in January this year following his contract’s expiration.
While being hosted on Horizon Vibe TV show on UBC TV last Saturday, Trill who is now signed to Striker Entertainment, talked on how he went through hardship to get there.
“Of course it was never a good thing when you know the potential you posses but some people keep looking down on you thinking you are not worthy. I had to really learn the hard way to beat the industry politics and start making music. To all rappers and my fans, follow your dream and try as hard as you can to attain it”. Big Trill told Chano8 when he was contacted for information.
It is because of this that Trill released a collabo song with Fille dubbed ‘Batuwulira’ which is basically dedicated to those haters who used to look down on him and didn’t embrace the music he sang.
‘Batuwulira’ which literally means ‘They listen to us’, is a hip-hop song produced and mastered by The Weezy who is his producer and the video was shot and directed by Jim Resly.
The ‘Pretty Girls’ singer Big Trill real names Kaiza Rowland, started off rapping in English which he has maintained up to date, but faced a lot of challenges like we see above. However, that encouraged him until he finally got to some promising stage.
Music can be so challenging, but no matter what kind of music you do, stick to it, do more practice and please expect some people to despise what you do. But like Big Trill did, try and attain your dream.
