Last night, comedy outfit Fun Factory dedicated their weekly show ‘Organised Chaos’ at National Theatre for ailing NTV pioneer news anchor RoseMary Nankabirwa. The fans who usually throng the weekly show every Thursday in big numbers responded positively when the actors appealed to join and contribute to support the campaign to raise money for Nankabirwa’s medical bills.
Nakabirwa who is one of NTV Uganda’s pioneer news anchors was recently diagnosed with cancer and diabetes. She is recuperating in Mulago heart and cancer institutes where she is undergoing treatment in intensive care.
Although initially Nankabirwa’s family members had intended to keep her condition away from the public, her situation worsened and also the bills sky rocketed forcing her mother to release a statement as well as an appeal to friends and the general public to help support her in the cause.
Many local celebrities like Juliana Kanyomozi, Douglas Lwanga and Irene Ntale have been drumming support for the cause following the appeal message that has now gone viral on social media. NTV Uganda where Nankabirwa was working are spearheading the campaign and have already raised some money as well as organizing their own car-washing fundraising campaign.
Nankabirwa’s former colleagues Farida Nakazibwe and Florence Naluyimba received the contributions on behalf of NTV. The audience and fans had raised about One Million and thirty thousand shillings with the group topping it up with another One Million.
According to Naluyimba who heads the whole campaign, Nankabirwa is fast improving and will soon be taken to a hospital in Nairobi for further treatment and care.
