The Uganda Cranes over came Sudan’s Falcons in a hard foght Chan 2017 qualifiers played this evening at Nakivubo stadium in Kampala Uganda. The 3rd round first leg match that kicked off at 4pm in the centre of the capital city saw Frank Kalanda score for the hosts to take an early first half lead on 15 minutes after a brilliant workout and cross from returning striker Casaer Okhuti.
Sudanese goalkeeper Yassein Yousif Maki was a busy man after the early exchanges saving brillianlty from Kalanda and Okhuthi that kept the cheering fans on their toes. The fans had braved the cold afternoon to watch the match in a wet Nakivubo stadium after a series of torrential rains hit the East African nation.
It was however, not a long wait when team captain Farouk Miya doubled the lead for the home side on 35 minutes with a long range left foot effort that beat the Sudanese keeper in the far post.
Uganda Cranes goalkeeper James Alitho saved the nation and Hassan Wasswa’s blashes after the midfielder had brought down Muhammed Koko in the forbidden area and receiving his marching orders in the process to force cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho‘ Sredojević into a flurry of changes that allowed the home side to hang on for the win and a two goal cushion for the return leg in a week’s time in Sudan.
