The Versatility Of Lillian Mbabazi’s Musical Style

Are you fascinated by Lillian Mbabazi’s music style? Well for our throwback edition we take a close look the powerful vocalist and what she had to say about her career.

Her transition from Blu3 to a solo artiste has been an exciting but also a challenging one, especially when came from a situation where she had two girls supporting her in difficult times or when she had a bad day.

‘Blu3 had become something that was part of our lives having been together for almost seven years and coming into being Lilian Mbabazi the Solo artiste where everyone is looking at you was never going to be easy.’

It was quite challenging and took me quite a while that’s why I took on the band (The Sundaowners) because I needed a new support system and so far so good because I have enjoyed myself and discovered myself musically and do music that I really can be able to enjoy and it’s been fun.

I love band music and I feel it was something important to add to my CV because I learnt so many new things in the process. It was a way to express myself and also become a better musician and show people what I am made of,’ she told Chano8.

While describing her music style the soulful singer said,

‘I would like to call myself a versatile artiste that I can pretty much think or do what I want with music, but mostly I love Afro-soul, with a little bit of RnB twinge to it. I would simply call it Afro-soul.’

‘It’s music that you are not going to hear playing say in night clubs. But it’s doing well in its own way with inspiration drawn from Maurice Kyria who does something similar and he’s doing well. It’s music that lasts and not something you’re’ going to listen to for two months and get tired. I recorded Kawa 4-5 years ago and even when I play it now every one goes everything is kawa kawa.’
