From the time she joined the music industry, we are comfortable to say that Swangz Avenue’s singer Vinka has had a straight path although there some challenges she has faced just like any other artiste would.
Following the unveiling of the 2019 African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) nominees, the ‘Chips Na Ketchup’ singer was nominated in the category of ‘Best Female East Africa’.
She is facing stiff competition from other hot Ugandan singers Juliana Kanyomozi, Rema Namakula and Sheebah Karungi as well as Victoria Kimani, Akothee, Fena Kitu from Kenya, Nandy and Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania and Knowles Butera from Rwanda.
As we wait for the awarding ceremony which is slated to be held at The Dallas Bomb Factory, TX on 26th and 27th of October, voting is already open
Meanwhile, leaving the female artistes aside, Eddy Kenzo is the only artiste who made in the category of ‘Best Male East Africa’ and he is set to tussle it out with Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba, Harmonise, Juma Jux, Ommy Dimpoz and Rayvanny from Tanzania, Nyashinski, Khaligraph from Kenya and The Ben from Rwanda.
A few months ago Vinka signed a contract with Sony Music Africa and they will be recording and producing her music on top of promoting it internationally. Going by the quality of videos she has released after signing the deal, we wouldn’t be wrong to say Vinka is good to go.
