What started as a thought has eventually turned out to be a story among several websites, reporting that NBS TV has bought off WBS TV and that the Kamwokya based station will be shifting to their new location anytime next week. However, the latest coming in from management/receivership in Naguru is that, the information that circulated was just rumours.
Mr Kabiito Karamagi, receiver/manager went ahead and released a write up condemning the already publicized information.
“There is no agreement for NBS TV to purchase/takeover WBS. The receiver of WBS would like to clarify that the rumours that have been circulating around on social media that NBS TV has concluded a deal to purchase/takeover WBS are false, unfounded and intended to mislead the public. Any matters relating to the management and disposal of WBS are under the control of the receiver and he has not entered into any transaction with anyone.” He said
The rumours had stated that Kin Kaliisa the C.E.O of NBS is negotiating a deal for the acquisition of Wavah Broadcasting Service (WBS) and that the deal was made to enable Wavamuno clear his URA debts amounting to Shs7billion.
However, our source from NBS confirmed to us that plans to buy WBS are in advance and the deal will be finalized soon.
