When it was announced that Tekno and Mr Eazi were coming to Uganda, many people were excited and their excitement stems on the fact that both have hit songs doing rotation on Ugandan media but despite that, the two Nigerian musicians failed to impress at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Instead it was Bebe Cool who raised the bar high. The Gagamel boss, clad in all black outfit of t-shirt, jean shorts and sneakers came to the stage at 10 pm and having been doing this for over 20 years and being on home advantage, he knew the songs Ugandans would want. He started off his 30 minutes performance with ‘Katono’, followed it up with ’18 N Over ’, ‘Love You Every Day’, ‘Kabulengane’ and ‘Mbozi Za Malwa’.
These were exactly the songs the audience needed to hear for their moods to be lifted up since the previous performer Mr Eazi was a shadow of himself while on stage. He did ‘Sample You’, Dance For Me’, Fire Burn’ and ‘Leg Over’ among others. But because he has few songs, Eazi decided to waste fifteen minutes of the crowd’s precious time by singing songs from different musicians.
Tekno on the other hand performed after Bebe Cool and he like Eazi, he was also a disappointment. He came on stage a couple of minutes past 11 pm and the first song he did was unfamiliar to the audience. ‘Samantha’, ‘Pana’, ‘Duro’, ‘Where’ and ‘Rara’ were the others he did but the audience’s good response was not because he was performing well but because they knew the songs.
