President Museveni managed to break away from his very busy schedule and he was one of the revellers at musician Bebe Cool’s recently concluded ‘Golden Heart Concert’ that took place at Kololo Independence Grounds last Friday the 3rd of August 2018
The president made his way to Kololo at a few minutes to midnight while Bebe Cool was in the middle of his performance and a few minutes later, the ‘Kabulengane’ hit singer called upon him to speak to the excited crowd
He took to the podium as the crowd cheered so loudly and in his first words, he disclosed to the crowd how he was very happy to have attended Bebe’s concert. For the first 15 minutes of his speech, everything was moving on smoothly until power went off leaving the whole place in darkness.
A special thank to journalists who lit their camera lights that provided some light for the meantime as the concert orgnasiers looked for a possible solution. The power blackout lasted close to 10 minutes and the president waited until the problem was fixed. He did not move an inch but stayed standing still at the podium.
As he still waited, the presidential team improvised some speakers and a microphone which the president used in an attempt to continue his speech but all in vain as the sound wasn’t audible enough thus opting to wait a little longer. After 10 good minutes of the president and the crowd’s waiting, the power problem was fixed and immediately Mr. Museveni resumed his speech.
It is on rare occasions that power goes off when the head of state is addressing any crowd but it happened while he addressed the revelers at Bebe Cool’d concert but the reason was that Silk Event’s generator had run out of fuel. Silk Events was the company that had been hired to work on the concert’s stage and sound.
