40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation is an independent youth-led charity organisation which from the year 2012 has been a stepping stone for vulnerable children and communities to access quality, all-round education support and entrepreneurial training aimed at self-sustainability.
On that note, this award winning organisation marked its 5th anniversary at a glamorous VIP dinner dubbed #4040At5 that took place at Kampala Serena Hotel’s Victoria Hall last Friday the 5th of May 2017. Starting off as early as 7 PM with serving of cocktail to the revellers, the dinner later on saw attendees get entertained by headlining artistes Naava Grey, Afrie, Canaan Gents, Sandra Suubi and Ruyonga.
After the cocktail, Habasa the host welcomed the revellers and immediately invited the first performer Naava Grey who engaged and excited the crowd, showcasing what she got before Canaan Gents wowed the crowd with their acapella session.
Dinner was later served and as people almost got done with eating, there was a short thanksgiving speech from Namigadde Joyce the founder Happy Times Child Care Initiatives who are the first beneficiaries of 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation before singer Afrie serenaded the crowd with her beautiful vocals.
The stage was later opened for the team leader and founder 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation Esther Kalenzi who shared with the crowd about how she began it, where they are now and their proposed future plans.
“For me tonight is a night of celebrating a dream that I had and everyone that managed to come and dream with me because it is no longer my but our dream.” She said this before handing over appreciation awards to companies Cipher 256, The Medical Concierge and D & J Audio for the supportive heart they have been showing the organisation for the past 5 years.
More performances came from Sandra Suubi and shortly after, amid ululations cake was cut and served to the crowd and Ruyonga closed the night with his performance.
It was however not just about having and enjoying dinner to celebrate 5 years, but a fundraising function at that where attendees were asked to fundraise for the cause and this was done through pledges.
