In March 2020, when social events were suspended due to the spread of Covid19, party lovers, especially the Nyege Nyegeholics thought that by September that year, things were going to Ok but little did they know that they had to wait until 2022.

The annual 4-day Nyege Nyege International music festival organised by Talent Africa is happening, this time round in a new and more spacious venue, Itanda Falls, in Jinja City.

A few weeks ago, there was a little scare that the festival had been cancelled after Tororo woman MP Sarah Opendi called for the event to be banned over sexual immorality which they claim is ‘corrupting our children’ but smiles returned on attendees faces when it was finally cleared to happen.

It’s on and it started on Thursday with lots if things set to take place. Revellers are here mainly for fun, unwinding, enjoying international music that the festival has to offer, as well as interacting with people of different cultures.

There are 3 stages with different acts, that is the Main Stage, Tropical Stage and Dark Star but some sponsoring companies have their own mini stages with quite interesting things going on.

Day one got done yesterday, today is day two, and so far, performances on the main stage have been from Aweko Brian,  Ebrahim Soul O, Dj Sal, Dj Naselow, Cindy Sanyu, Rapper Navio among many others set to perform later.

There are over 100 acts from East Africa and all over the world to entertain the revellers and is sponsored by Uganda Waragi, Ethiopian Airlines, Mookh, Treep, Hegde, Smirnoff and Bell.
