Abryanz Fashion Awards That Brought BET Feel

The Abryanz style and fashion awards are perhaps the most glamorous fashion award ceremony in Uganda and the third edition that happened last Saturday at the Kampala Serena Hotel can testify to that.

The event started a few minutes past 8pm with a 40metre backdrop for a photo opportunity and a red carpet experience just like how the BET’s are organized.

On entering, a Ciroc cocktail awaited the guests on their way to the auditorium that had three stages. The main had a walkway where models, artistes and main speeches were made, and then the two others were basically for award presentation and dancers.

After receiving the Lifetime Style & Fashion Icon Achievement Award, Princess Elizabeth Bagaya explained her journey to stardom pointing out how then President Milton Obote barred her to travel to the UK in the 6os to do fashion before giving a thumbs up for Abryanz fashion awards. “You’ve reminded me that there is still life and fashion in Uganda. I’m happy to accept the award because it is a pointer to the future.” She added.

Other notable winners of the evening included Judith Heard (Most stylish Female Celebrity), Eddy Kenzo (Most stylish Male Celebrity), Best dressed Male politician
Mukasa Mbidde and Ciroc emerging as the Best fashion supporting brand/personality.

However, the award ceremony didn’t flow as earlier expected. Power went off for close to an hour which ended the red carpet moment prematurely, then more than once, the people who were invited on stage to present several awards, had empty envelopes.
