The exciting ‘Africa Laughs’ Comedy show is back with a big bang. The international star-studded comedy show that is returning from a one year break will be held on 26th August 2016 at its traditional home in Kampala Serena Hotel. This was announced today at a press briefing held at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi Kampala.
Organisers have promised the best show Africa is yet to experience where ribs will be broken into pieces as both international and local stars are expected to crack ribs at the all-star Africa event. The event was first held in 2013 with the second edition in 2014 however they organisers too a break in 2015 to allow Salvador to hold his One Man show dubbed The Man from Ombokolo in 2015.
The CEO Africa Laughs and comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi who sounded upbeat about the highly anticipated event said they came together as African comedians to build consensus and unite Africa as one big family and break common negative mentalities and stereo-types about African countries.
“We came up with the Idea of Africa Loughs when we met at a comedy show called Stand Up Africa in 2013 and decided to organise our own shows as top comedians from Africa and venture into a probono movement of live and extraordinary shows which we hail”.Said Salvador
He said when they all agreed at the comedians union to support each other to pull off a series of comedy shows, it gave birth to The Presidents of L’Africa in Malawi, Africa United in Zimbabwe, Laugh Festival in Kenya, Stand up Africa in South Africa and Lord of the Ribs in Nigeria besides Africa Laughs in Uganda.
“The stars are driven by focus, determination and ingenuity. Through their shows, these comedians create richly complex characters that resonate with everyone, validate our humanity and existence, thus reflecting our deep feelings and desires. This therefore empowers us to make a positive difference and do profound changes to ourselves and our communities around us” He added
The star-studded line up for Africa Laughs season III includes host Salvador Patrick Idringi (Uganda), Bovi (Nigeria), Eddie Kadi (Congo),Ndumiso Lindi (South Africa), Carl Joshua Ncube (Zimbabwe), Eric Omindi (Kenya), Arthur Nkusi (Rwanda)
Others include Anne Kansiime, Alex Muhangi, Madrat and Chico, Teacher Mpamire, Napoleone Emmah and Ronnie MacVex all from Uganda. Entry fee for the event is set at 100,000//- with surprise guest performances and a live band performances from Myck Ouma and Janzi Band.
