Yet another milestone for singer and Philanthropist Angella Katatumba who was yesterday honoured by the Queen of Buganda, Nnabagereka Sylivia Nagginda who invited her to share her NGO, AKDF’s success story at the African Philanthropy Forum (APF) exclusive breakfast meeting at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.
This comes after a busy and very successful year for Angella who has since been honoured and recognised both locally and internationally for her music and charity work in helping needy communities and underprivileged people especially affected by war.
Angella’s NGO won the Charity of the year award in the South African based Starqt Awards recently making the total number of awards won this year to three after the Humanitarian Award in Uganda Entertainment Awards and Humanitarian Award in CEO Global Awards.
This comes after she held a successful VIP Mulago Yaffe concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel, where proceeds to the event went to the Uganda Cancer Institute to continue the fight against cancer after which she was also was appointed to be the face of Uganda Cancer Institute.
The high profile meeting was co-hosted by the Nnabagereka through her Nnabagereka Development Foundation and APF to discuss Growing Philanthropy At Home. Other key speakers were New Vision CEO Robert Kabushenga, Julian Omalla of Cheers Delight Ltd.
In attendance were Cabinet Minister Hon. Maria Kiwanuka, UN Women Representative Hodan Addou and APF Executive Directors Ndindi Nwuneli and Tsitsi Masiyiwa who all recognised the ‘Mulago Yaffe’ singer for her music and remarkable social work in the country.
Word has it that Angella will represent East Africa at the Sub-Sahara Continental Philanthropy Conference in Rabat, Morocco on 17-18 October, 2016.We will keep you posted for more details as they come through.
