Club Beer has been holding online or virtual concerts almost every weekend during this lockdown. The concerts that feature local artistes are broadcast to viewers via online channels like YouTue and Facebook live.
It has now become the in thing ever since President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced several measures to help curb the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
The measure which have been mainly targeting avoidance of contacts through big crowds saw most events been either banned or suspended to avoid public gatherings that attract big numbers and hence a dangerous hot spot for the disease.
This left many artistes in Uganda who mainly survive on entertainment shows and music concerts redundant and broke.
So brands like Club known to sponsor such events and also ride on the big numbers involved in these gatherings decided to look for alternatives and hence rescue the artistes and fans who were also missing them by organising the concerts online.
Club Beats: After 2 successful episodes, the Club Beats At Home online concert will return for episode 3 this weekend, on Saturday May 9th to be precise. The first episode featured artistes A PASS Irene Ntale Ykee Benda as Mr. SilverBack did the mixing, while second episode had Feffe Bussi Music, Lydia Jazmine, Grenade Music, Allan Toniks with Sir Aludah on the disks.
This Saturday will have John Blaq, MUN-G, Lillian Mbabazi, Daddy Andre, Martha Kay / Entertainer and Suspekt Leizor with Xyle on the ones and twos and all concerts are hosted by Martha Kay / Entertainer
Although the first episode had technical hitches and network issues, the second edition was well received and was superb with artistes like Lydia Jazmine and Feffe Bussi impressing. Hopefully this weekend it will be even better.
FEZAH Online: In their first concert they hosted the soulful Kenneth Mugabe. The concert is held on the Fezah App and access is at 5,000/- and a ticket is bough by dialing *252# then selecting option 4. Then Saxophonist Michale Kitanda was next on May 2nd and this weekend on Sunday, they will have Sam Kimera on May 10th at 10,000/- only.
Swangz Avenue online concerts: The music power house recently partnered with House of DJs to bring the Uganda Strong and United Coronavirus concert which featured about 10 Ugandan artistes like Vinka, Fik Famaica, Sheebah, Azawi and YKee Benda in support of the front liners fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Before that they also had hosted a few artistes and comedian like Salvado Idringi.
Many other artistes like Levixone have also held virtual concerts on their social media platforms and although there are some challenges here and there, the concerts are a welcome consolation for the artistes and their fans to catch up and where access is paid for, also make some much needed dime.
