While people were celebrating love On Monday the 14th of February, a fresh event that is expected to attract party lovers was launched and it is just a few days away.
The “Jam Fest” whose name is a combination of short forms of words “Jamming” and “Festival”, is set to happen this Saturday the 19th of February at Zoe Grounds located in Lugogo, Kampala and it will be held 3 times a year, with different themes.
Set to start as early 10 AM whether revellers are there or not, the first season has been dedicated to local artistes who have released hot tunes that have not only topped charts but also been on people’s playlists during the almost two years of the pandemic period.
A criterion was followed and finally, the organisers came to a conclusion that the first edition will be headlined by Swangz Avenue’s hot cake Azawi, singer Samah Sojah and Dancehall deejays Mudra, Vyper Ranking and Mark D’Urban who is a new kid on the block that has been dropping hardcore Dancehall freestyles in Jamaican Patois, that have been going viral on social media.
While speaking at the speaking at the media briefing that took place at Whispers Restaurant in Bugolobi, Kampala, Elvis Ssekyanzi the C.E.O Silk Events, one of the leading events and sound company, reemphasized that this edition is featuring these young artistes because they deserve a platform and are talented.
“This particular event is not by mistake that we do not have all the known artistes, I would say the ones that have been around for many more years. We directly went for artistes that have produced good content during the last two years, the Covid time and we are giving them a platform, I think they deserve a chance to be on a big stage and they have a lot of social capital influence” – Said Elvis
Excited Mudra who was the only headlining artiste present at the presser promised to give his fans a big vibe and blend of music basing on the fact he is not limited to Dancehall music alone.
The festival will provide platform to some of the unknown but good disk jockeys as well as bands and above all, there will be other fun things apart from entertainment it will offer, like games both digital and physical among other things.
The entry fees are Ug Shs 25.000 and 50.000 VIP where as the VVIP tents go for 1.5 million and the it has been powerd by Silk Events, Radio City, Stanbic Bank, Adris Digital Africa, Wavah Water, Feyti LTD, Simba FM, BBS TV and Saints Media
