Yesterday was another winning day for the Gagamel boss Bebe Cool. He scooped the award for Best African Reggae/dancehall artiste of the year at the African entertainment awards in Toronto, Canada.
Having beaten competition from Burna Boy, Patoranking and Cynthia Morgan, the award was nothing but proof for his hard work this year something that has helped him solidify his status as one Africa’s finest.
Some people may argue the fact that his not the finest but truth be told, Bebe Cool has managed to push his career to greater heights with the release of the Go Maama album. It’s no wonder his songs like Love you everyday, Bwebyo and Go Mama have received massive airplay on MTV Base and Trace TV among others.
The Go Maama album is different because it has so many styles. It was made sure that each song is different from the other.’
‘We had to go through it carefully to make sure they have taken care of every individual by color, race and age. So when you put out such an album so many people will ask questions, for example, there is a rock song and someone may say that I don’t understand rock music but there so many people in the world who listen to rock music. On this particular day, I will explain every song and will also be able to take a few questions from the public, especially from the press because at that moment a person could have a sentence or style and they are wondering. This is to make sure the press doesn’t make mistakes as it portrays the album,’ he said.
The award ceremony was held yesterday at at Living arts centre Mississauga Canada. It was the fourth edition of the prestigious awards that play host to emerging and established artistes, promoters and business partners in the Africa-Canadian entertainment industry and showcase the rich culture of African art and entertainment.
