When news of Prince’s passing broke late yesterday, many fans, friends and family couldn’t believe he was gone. Several celebrities like Madonna, Beyonce, Pharell and Justin Timberlake among others have paid tribute to the music legend.
Madonna shared a photo of herself and the Purple rain hitmaker and captioned it, ‘He changed the world!! A true visionary. What a loss. I’m devastated.’
Legendary music producer Quincy Jones tweeted, ‘A true artist in every sense of the word. Gone way too soon.’
Justin Timberlake who was stunned and numb by the news shared a fond memory of a Prince Track when he was only four years old,
‘It was Raspberry Beret….. I remember that I instantly loved it. “Mommy, who is that singing?” Seems weird but it’s true,’
‘More than a “once in a lifetime” artist… Just a ONCE IN FOREVER ARTIST. I’m still in shock as I write this and I feel this overwhelming grief,’ he continued.
‘They say don’t meet your idols… That they let you down. But, some of my greatest, funniest (yes, he was hilarious), and most prolific encounters and conversations about music came from the moments that I spent with him.’
‘It would be silly to say that he has inspired our music… It’s beyond that. He’s somewhere within every song I’ve ever written.’
Beyonce shared a black and white photo of Prince along with his famous quote,
‘Everyone has their own experience. That’s why we are here, to go through our experience, to learn, to go down those paths and eventually you may have gone down so many paths and learned so much that you don’t have to come back again.’
The Happy singer Pharell Williams said, ‘There will be many kings, queens and princesses, but there will never be another Prince.’
The 57 year old was found unresponsive in his elevator at home. The cause of death will be determined after a full autopsy.
