Carol Atuhirwe who suffered severe throat cancer for more than two yeras finally succumbed to the deadly scourge yesterday. The ever-smiling Carol whose charm and strength to fight on for her life won many hearts of Ugandans last year which led to a massive turn up for a campaign dubbed ‘Save Carol’ which helped raise funds to for her specialised treatment abroad.
Although the campaign which mostly involved a series of car washing drives managed to raise Shs.324, 603,399, it was unable to save her and eventually lost the battle yesterday at Narayana Hospital in Bangalore India where she was admitted for the past one year at around 8:00pm.
Mr. Muhereza Kyamutetera of the main forces behind the ‘Save Carol’ drive made the announcement yesterday and has also come up to share the funeral arrangements for the young lady who passed on aged 31. The message has the detailed announcement coming from the Family of Eng. Franklin & Mrs Agrace Mugizi together with the Send-off committee.
According to the message, the body of Carol will arrive at Entebbe International Airport, on Monday, June 5th at 2pm and also gives details for the funeral.
“There will be a church service on Tuesday, June 6th 2017, at 10am, at All Saints Church Nakasero. Thereafter, the body will be taken to her ancestral home, in Ibanda District, Ishongororo, Kabale Village, (turn off at Mailo 61 on Ibanda-Kamwenge Road) where it shall be laid to rest on Wednesday, June 7th 2017 beginning at 12pm.”The statement reads in part.
Several Ugandans were united during the fundraising drives that attracted politicians, Musicians, local celebrities, socialites and general public who put aside their differences and contributed generously, something which did not go unnoticed from the family.
“We wish to heartily thank everyone for standing with us and fighting with Carol till her last breath. May God reward you abundantly.
