The Real life festival back again with a cause in mind of helping Boda boda widows to start up their own businesses. It is an annual event that happens every December bringing people together to celebrate Christmas and the year. The event will take place on 20th of December at Namboole in Kiprotich hall, wing 16 at only 5k starting at 12pm and ending at 6pm.
Pastor Mark Kigozi the host of this event says that the event is also intended to give back to the community. He added that this year’s event has a cause of helping widows to be equipped with skills that can help them raise money for their children’s wellbeing. This comes after being approached by an association of Bodaboda riders whom they had donated to things like clothes brought to their attention about the death of their colleagues and how their children are left with unemployed mothers who cannot manage to sustain them in school.
“The long term goal of this year’s event is to equip widows with skills to generate their own income” says Pastor Mark.
The skills will include soap making, candle making, jewellery making, hand craft, this will enable them start up their own cottage industries. When asked how this would be done, Pastor Mark said that as people are enjoying music and dance from the different entertainers that will be present that day, the long term cause of the event would be talked about and an appeal made to fundraise for it.
