Celebrating The Life Of Bebe Cool

It has been a long journey with ups and downs, tears and laughter, highs and lows as well as fights and love for veteran Ugandan artiste Big Size Bebe Cool. The journey spanning close to two decades now has seen the Reggae star grow and mature into one of Uganda’s top exports in the music industry into the international market.

After holding massive concerts to celebrate the best of his music through the years, now the Gagamel boss is gearing up for yet another huge concert this time round to celebrate the whole of his musical journey where he has promised the best that has come from him. The VIP concert dubbed ‘The Life Of Bebe Cool’ is slated for Friday the 5th of August at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

In a recent press briefing held at Liquid Silk to officially announce the concert, a confident Bebe Cool reiterated the importance of celebrating life while we are at it and promised to maintain the high standards he has set ever since he started holding his concerts indoors at Kampala Serena Hotel, like at the ‘Best of Bebe Cool’ and ‘Friends of Bebe Cool’ concerts.

“Elementarily we don’t talk too much about what happens at the event. We used to be outdoors and the last outdoor concert I think was ‘Agenze’ so we turned into indoors. The eyes of the people will see something special and new in front of them.”

“I feel it is important to celebrate the lives of people who have contributed to a community while they are still alive and that is the reason why this concert is called Life Of Bebe Cool and it is just the life I have lived up to that day on 5th of August,” Bebe Cool said.

So what should the fans brace themselves for come 5th August 2016?. Well Chano8 has been at all previous Bebe Cool concerts and as committed partners, has an idea of what is also expected on D-Day.

Red Carpet/VIP treatment

All guests will be treated to a red carpet reception at the 5-Star Kampala Serena Hotel and as usual there is the classy decor expected too. The electronic ticket system will make matters easier for organisers and guests at the entrance. Dress code is casual smart.

Food/Drinks

As part of the sponsorship for the concert, Johnnie Walker will treat the VVIP guests to a whisky mentorship session before the show and in addition, the first 300 guests will have Johnnie Walker cocktails on the house. There will be Whiskey and other drinks from co-sponsors Pepsi on the house too, as well as food and bites on the VVIP tables.

Audience

According to organisers, the VVIP tables have almost all been booked by ardent Bebe Cool fans, Business community and sponsors, which means familiar faces will be present. It feels good to rub shoulders with the big boys and girls and who wouldn’t love to mix with the A-Listers of the country? – the likes of Tycoon Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and Wife Jyostna, Son Rajeev Ruparelia, daughter Sheena and family members. Businessmen like Sir Gordon Wavamunno, Godfrey Kirumira and family not forgetting Ham Kiggundu and brother Haruna who are also expected to show face.

Bebe and tycoons

Many Tycoons graced last year’s event and is expected to be there too this time round

There will be local celebrities, fashion icons, fellow artistes, corporates, socialites, Gagamel Phamily and high-end show goers. The media fraternity will be there in big numbers as seen from the line up that showed up at the luncheon.

Music performances

What is a concert without music or did I just say music? Well a concert without a hit song? Bebe Cool has always produced at least one or two hit songs every year and this year is no different as songs off his Love You Everyday ‘Go Mama’ album are rocking the airwaves both at home and across boarders. From the blockbuster song ‘Love You Everyday,’ ‘Everywhere I go’ and ‘Go Mama’ to ‘Killin it,’ Ki Ekiganye and the song of the moment Kabulengane there will be plenty for the fans to enjoy.

Surprise Acts

Besides the Gagamel Band that always pulls of top notch live performances, there are surprise acts expected to showcase too to spice up things. That moment when Bebe Cool’s then 8-year old daughter Beata stepped on stage and played Ludwig van Beethoven’s compositions like a pro still lingers in the minds of many and we expect more surprise. The sqoop from the orgainsers is that a big name from South Africa could make a surprise appearance.
