Charmant Mushaga is one of the promising singers and guitarists in town and those who have watched him showcase at different events like Blankets and Wine, Qwela Junction, the recently concluded Eddy Kenzo Live concert can testify that Charmant is good when it comes to that field.
In a bid to promote his upcoming ‘Bado Bado’ album under his record label SMS ONE, he released a track dubbed ‘Ngoma Ya Africa’ meaning ‘African Beat’ produced by Josh Wonder at Audio One studios on which he features songstress Naava Grey and Cooper Saali.
The video was shot and directed by Kush Imran of Egotastic Media alongside Tim Blessing who is Charmant’s and Naava Grey’s manager. It was shot in Jinja at the source of river Nile, a warehouse in Kawempe, Church in Nyenga, Karamoja district and Makindye a Kampala city suburb.
Ngoma Ya Africa the video
The video begins with a night scene of Charmant Mushaga, Nava Grey and Cooper Saali playing some games aboard a boat cruise. The next scene introduces Charmat standing next to a church doing the intro to the song, he is later joined by a group of dancers wearing the African Kitege attire with whom they pull some gentle dance strokes.
The other scene shows Charmant playing a guitar as he sits on the boat again with Nava Grey who is seen telling him something we don’t seem to hear. Singing about Africa, we see a group of Karamojong people staring at the video director’s camera who later shifts our attention back to Nava Grey and Charmant on the boat.
Nava is seen playing the guitar as Charmant cheers her on which later introduces her in the second verse. The other scene shows South African Casper Semenya winning the 800 metre race and some kids posing with flags of Uganda, South Africa and Kenya countries and a clip showing when Uganda’s athlete Kiprotich won the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. Generally this is basically showcasing Africa’s potential and talent.
The concluding scenes show the video vixens dressed in Ugandan cultural attire pulling some rear dance strokes and the video is later concluded at a camp fire where we see the singers Cooper Saali, Charmant Mushaga and Naava Grey pulling some dance strokes as they go walk around the camp fire. The video was creatively edited and given African color themes.
