He broke onto the scene with his hit song ‘Kapapala’ in 2008 and ruled the whole country as the song took the airwaves by storm and ended as some kind of anthem in the country. He was rewarded for that effort at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (PAM) as he walked away with Song of the year award as the song dominated on radio, TV and night clubs across the country.
Many people feared he would end up as a ‘One hit wonder’ like many other local artists who have struggled to maintain the high standards some start with.
However the diminutive singer did not sit on his laurels but continued with his hard work which later culminated into doing collaborations with some big name artists like Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Radio and Weasel. Like we always say, the rest is history.
Lutalo has now matured into a force to reckon with as he has an impressive collection of songs to his name with over five being hit songs like ‘Nandikulese mu kyaalo’,’Gunsitula’, ‘Pretty’ ’Wa Gyetugende’ ‘Hellena’ (Ft Radio and Weasel), ‘Mubbi Mubbi’ (Ft Maro) Far Away, ’Princess’ (Ft King Saha) and the latest Akantu.
Although some critics describe his music as ‘urban Kadongo kamu’, Lutalo is actually a talented versatile artist who can almost feature comfortably in many genres like RnB, Afrobeat and Raggae and his collabo ‘Mubbi Mubbi’ with Maro has won him many fans across the divide.
Come Friday 30th January he will be launching his full debut album ‘Akantu’ at Hotel Africana which is expected to be a real album launch as opposed to launching singles which is a common norm in the Ugandan music industry and credit has to be given to the man from Masaka whose hard work is finally paying off.
Entry Fee for the launch is set at 20,000/= for general happiness and 50,000/= for VIP.
