So on Tuesday the 26th of May when private car owners were allowed to drive again in the first easing of the lockdown, a group of Subaru drivers decided to come back on the road in style by doing an auto race in some parts of Kampala, powered by Rockboom Energy Drink.
According to videos which were shared on social media, a good number of Subaru car models from the ‘Legacys’ to ‘Foresters’ to ‘Imprezas’ were seen racing on the roads and this set tongues wagging on social media.
Much as they got all the attention, one Denis Onyango who is the Uganda Cranes’ goalie called them for a challenge with his 2019 BMW X6 M Power. He thinks he can beat them at their game.
Although many people thought he was just showing off his monster ride, he took to his official 36.1K followers Twitter account and shared a photo of his good looking blue BMW and called the Subaru guys to meet him at the Entebbe Express High Way and see who is who.
“Enkya I want all those guys of SUBARU on express highway Tulabe if they are really as quick as they think” Read Onyango’s Tweet
From the look of things, it seems that the Subaru Drivers either ignored the challenge or feared the monster ride as we haven’t seen even one of them come out to challenge 2018’s CAF ‘African Best Goalie’ award winner.
