Having put on a flawless show in Uganda a few weeks ago, Diamond Platnumz was full of praise for his new song Utanipenda. In an exclusive interview with Chano8 the Tanzanian heavy weight said that the song is an inspiration,
It talks about life, it talks about what if am not going to be the same Diamond who I am today. What if I lose everything tomorrow, what if media stops playing my music, I can’t even get a show, I can’t even win awards. My girlfriend, my friends, my management, are they going to still be there.
The singer further went on to talk about the awards he won last year,
MTV Mama as best performer, I won three Afrimmas, MTV Ema as African artiste of the year. It means a lot because our East African industry has moved from where we are to somewhere else, so we trying our level best so keep pushing ourselves. At least, right now the East African music industry is doing good and shout out to my fellow musicians from East Africa who are pushing it hard.
Diamond concluded by saying he’s happy because it’s not only his dreams being fulfilled but the whole of East Africa.
