The DJ duo of Slick Stuart and Roja is set for yet another milestone as they prepare to release their much-anticipated ‘Very Wellooo’ album that is set to officially drop on Thursday August 27th 2020.
After setting different trends in the industry and raising the bar very high for other DJs by organizing successful annual concerts, the duo is back at it again, this time releasing their debut album in which they feature some of the top voices in the land; including the likes of Winnie Nwagi, Rema Namakula, Lilian Mbabazi, King Saha and Allan Toniks.
Veteran singers Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone also add in some experience as well as instrumentalists Joseph Sax and Myco Ouma. While fresh talents like Lyto Boss, Kojjo Derrick and VIP Jemo put on the final touches as the icing on the cake to spice things up.
“This Project Has Been A Labour Of Love For Me, We’ve Spent About Two Years Conceiving & Creating. I Have Poured My Heart & Soul Into These Sounds And Collaborated With Some Amazing Incredibly Gifted Co-Writers, Producers & The Vocalists (Musicians)
I Hope This New Album Can Get You Lifted Again, Fill Your Hearts With Love ❤ & Inspiration, Give You Something To Dance To, Something To Hold Hands To, Something To Make Love To” Slick Stuart posted to fans.
According to Stuart, pre-orders will start this week Thursday 21st 2020 for fans who want to be among the first to buy the historical album online. Celebrated artist Kwiz-era did for them an elaborate cover artwork to sell it online and hopefully cement their position in the history books.
From Mix-tapes to Long Play compilations, the duo has had an amazing journey but now this is the real deal. With the title track ‘Very Wellooo’ not a visitor to our ears, let’s take a look at what’s on offer in the album comprising 20 strong tracks with some surprises on too.
The song which is titled ‘Very Well’ but known to most as ‘Very Wellooo’ because of the way King Saha voices it, was the gateway that opened up things in 2018, setting the ball rolling for an unprecedented milestone that has come at the right time now when most people are still either locked at home or working from the comforts of their living rooms with boredom in close proximity.
Although there were several debates centered on the ownership of the song, it became a blockbuster hit that year giving Saha the spring board on which he organized a successful ‘Biri Biri’ concert at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds which was well attended. As the saying goes, time always sorts out things and thus the issue of ownership was eventually settled as many people reluctantly ‘allowed’ DJs could actually own a song.
The song although categorized by the producers as RnB/ Soul, has a unique blend of Afro-Pop sound with pumping danceable beats that rocked the night clubs, hangouts and homes across East Africa.
One of the recent success stories of the duo in this album has been the song ‘Sunday’ in which they feature Allan Toniks. It has been one of the biggest hits since last year winning awards not only for its soothing sound, but also the colorful visuals created with very invigorating artistic effects by Swangz Avenue’s Marvin Musoke with over a million views on YouTube.
Another one to look out for is ‘More of this’ where the duo features Rema Namakula. Just like most of the songs on this album, it’s also ararnged and produced by Nessim Pan Production and has that RnB feel to it which is so relaxing just like that of Winie Nwagi’s called ‘Sumn U Neva Had’ (Refix).
There is a lot generally to consume in the album as it cuts across different genres for different generations with a host of top song-writers putting in their creative juices while inking the different lyrics. I wouldn’t love to spoil the party for you but lookout for its release on Thursday 27th August as it will be available on most music streaming platforms like Spotify, Tidal, Youtube, iTunes, Amazon Music and Deezer.
