Every passing day, Donald Trump grows more unpopular among US citizens either by the words he says or his actions and the latest sign of hatred was his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame being vandalized at around 5:45 a.m yesterday.
This came as a protest of the Republican presidential candidature in the upcoming US presidential elections.
The protester, who was later identified as James Otis, said he wanted to remove the star to auction it off to raise money for the 11 women who have accused Trump of sexual assault.
But that plan seemed to have disintegrated pretty quickly as the landmark near the Dolby Theatre crumbled apart under repeated blows from his axe.
Trump received the honoured spot along the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in January 2007, in the days when he was best known as the host of ‘The Apprentice.’ And his star has been a destination for more tourists than usual in the months since he launched his controversial presidential campaign.
“When people are unhappy with one of our honourees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark. Our democracy is based on respect for the law. People can make a difference by voting and not by destroying public property.” said Leron Gubler, president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an institution celebrating the positive contributions of the inductees.
