At the recent rapper Gravity Omutujju’s sold out Embuzi Zakutudde concert that took place at Lugogo Cricket Oval, singer Eddy Kenzo survived being taken to the coolers because of chanting Bobi Wine’s ‘People Power’ slogan while he was performing
According to sources, a directive was issued that musicians should not mix music with politics while at public performances but Kenzo who is a staunch fan and friend to Bobi Wine, did the opposite and chanted ‘People Power’ live on stage. This aroused rowdy cheers from the crowd a thing that did not please the police.
After he finishing performance, he was tasked by Police to explain his action but after the interrogation, he has later released. It was for this matter therefore that the ‘Sitya Loss’ singer fired back explaining how he is not a politician and neither a violent person through an 8 minute video he shared on his Facebook page
“I am not a politician and I am not fighting anybody. I don’t even know how they remove someone from power but I am a leader by birth not by vote. I have lots of youth I inspire and if they are not happy, I can’t also be happy. When I come on stage to perform, it is upon me to tell my fans that there is this problem which we can solve in an amicable way without violence and bloodshed” Eddy Kenzo Said
Eddy further told the government not to bring in the propaganda that artistes are inciting valance by uttering out some political statement
“We are not politicians but we are on a mission of organizing our country and our citizens. We are not violent and we are not fighting anyone. We will always complain if the current government has weaknesses and we will also complain if the next government has weaknesses as well” Kenzo added
Eddy finalized his speech defending the way he talked to the fans while he was on stage performing
“The way I talk to my fans is not bad because I tell them the truth but if I have told them the that we shouldn’t be violent, it does not mean that I have told them to be violent. If I say People Power, it doesn’t mean that I am fighting the current government No”
