The Elly Wamala Estate is scheduled to hold a concert to honor a decade since the artiste’s passing and honor of his illustrious musical career.
The celebration concert, slated for 12 December at Serena Hotel and supported by Nile Special, has been announced today at a press briefing at the same venue.
Speaking on behalf of the Estate, Ms. Lydia Wamala revealed that the concert is a climax of a ten year tribute project; the Elly Wamala All Stars, that kicked off in August. The project has ridden on the success of the renditions of the legend’s popular hits some of which are already enjoying considerable airplay.
“Over the time period of this project, we have worked with the biggest contemporary music producers and artistes in Uganda. This is a celebration of Wamala’s lifelong commitment to knowledge gathering and sharing, which, he mainly did through his songs,” said Ms. Wamala who also commended Nile Special for the support towards the organization of the concert.
The Nile Special brand manager Timothy Kayondo stated that; “This concert is a toast to a true champion. Elly Wamala was a musician of distinguished qualities, a fact that earned him several awards during his career. This resonates well with Nile Special. The brand has also won several international awards over the period of 50-years.”
