Muchomo is a Kiswahili word meaning ‘roasted meat’ and in Uganda, muchomo is celebrated annually at an event dubbed ‘Mucho Festival’. The fourth edition of this fest took place last Sunday the 25th of November at a new venue Hilltop Naguru Gardens.
Despite the fact that the attendance was not a good one, at least it was understandable because the country was still in shock following the boat accident on Lake Victoria that killed dozens but nevertheless, the event had to go on
By 5:30 PM, there were a few people at the venue until a few minutes to 6 PM when Dj Kathy took to the wheels of steel and warmed them up with the best live Dj mixes that put them in party mood as they sipped on their favourite drinks as well as munching on some muchomo
The stage was later left for to Dj Spin Man who also took the revellers on another live Dj mix session, before the event MCs Salvado and Deedan announced the session of artistes’ performances which was led by singer Kenneth Mugabi who serenaded fans especially ladies, as he performed songs like ‘Nambi’, ‘Naaki’, ‘Nkwegomba’, ‘Kibun’omu’ among others
Janzi Band were the next performers and like usual, they killed it while performing covers of some local and international hit songs. King Saha came next and also exited the revellers performing ‘Very Well’, ‘On My Way’, ‘Mpa Love’ and ‘Biri Biri’ songs
Accompanied by four sexy dancers, The ‘King Her Self’ Cindy came to stage immediately after Saha and gave fans a full doze of entertainment with her energetic performance while singing ‘Ndimukodo’, ‘Bwoy A Go Dead’, ‘Ayokya’, ‘Onina’, ‘Selector’ and ‘Zalawo’ songs among others
Ugandan Reggae veteran Madoxx Ssematimba crowned the night with another exciting performance which got revellers on their toes as they danced to conc Reggae/ Rasta vibes while he sang tunes like ‘Omuyimbi’, ‘Omukwano’, ‘Easy’, ‘Nakatudde’, ‘Munakyalo’ and ‘Namagembe’
The event might not have had a good attendance but believe us that the few who attended the Kezzi Entertainment and Spruced Ug organized event had fun
Muchomo Festival was proudly sponsored by Mixa Kids. Capital FM and Balam Marketing Agency and below are the photos and videos of how it went down.
