Billy Ocean who was one the best songwriters in the mid 80’s is coming to Uganda.
The soulful topped charts during 1980’s, following the success of Suddenly and its main single, “Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)”. The song was such a hit that the title and lyrics were changed for different regions of the world. The song won him the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 1985 Grammy Awards.
Billy has achieved extraordinary success both as an artist and songwriter. Born in Trinidad, he settled in London’s East End when he was just seven years old.
The “Have fun and give back” concept of the show is driving the group of social entrepreneurs /entertainers.
“British Airways is more than Glad to take part in this event because of its double bottom line. Here we are having fun, but at the end of the day, someone’s life will be changed forever, said Faith the country manager of British Airways.
According to comedian Alex Muhangi who is one of the organizers of the show, ‘There is an appetite for high end and upscale social entertainment… we will bring it to the sophisticated and exposed Ugandan that doesn’t mind having expensive fun if he believes there is a good cause attached to it.’
Michael Mugisha also known as “fingaz” probably one of Africa’s best kept secret when it comes to production, is also part of the team that brings us the Billy Ocean concert. Expect to be thrilled.
The tickets will go for 100,000 for silver 300,000 for gold and 6 million for a table.
